Study: More and More Men Are Adopting Cats

Owning a cat has historically been a thing for women. In fact, I have had some girlfriends that would not date a guy if he cat. They thought it just seemed wrong for a man to have a cat.

I think it's cool when a man has a cat. So if you're on “Team Cat” like me, you'll be happy to know that cat adoptions among men are on the rise.

A new study found that cat adoptions are increasing in popularity for men. In fact, last year 13% of men owned a cat. Now, that number is up to 17% this year.

The Pet Food Manufacturers’ Association says that men are partially doing this as they try to get dates (especially on apps like Tinder), according to the UK Metro. Plus, celebirites (like Ed Sheeran) have made it sort of trendy to have a cat.

So is a cat becoming man’s best friend? Owning a dog is great and all. You can take them for a job and hiking, but they require a lot of attention.

Cats, on the other hand, are pretty easy to take care of and require little attention. You need to feed them and make sure their box is clean and they are happy as a clam.

I think it’s great that men are getting cats. Plus, there are always a ton of cats up for adoption at the local shelter. So it's great that they're getting homes.
