What a difference a year makes. It was less than a year ago when Peanut was at a Michigan animal shelter recovering from injuries to her legs and ribs after being abused. Peanut, who now has a loving home, just saved the life of a 3-year-old girl.

Peanut, who was adopted last April, began barking and running around the house last Friday (March 17) to get the attention of her owners. When the dog's dad took her outside, she darted into the field behind the family's home, according to a letter the family shared on Facebook

Well, thank goodness that the adorable dog alerted her family. Peanut's dad discovered a naked 3-year-old girl in the backyard. The girl has been placed with Child Protective Services, and everyone agrees that Peanut was a hero.

"Thanks to Peanut, a little girl's life was saved today. She has been such a blessing to us, and now to others. Words cannot express how grateful we are that we have Peanut in our lives and how amazing she is," the family shared on Facebook.

Way to go Peanut!
