December 11, 2017

Sheryl Crow has released a new song, "The Dreaming Kind," dedicated to the five-year anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy. The mass shooting in Connecticut took the lives of 20 children and 6 of their staff members on December 14, 2012.

According to People, Crow is working with Sandy Hook Promise, a nonprofit group focusing on the prevention of gun violence. The country singer revealed to the magazine that the topic gave "purpose" to her writing.

Crow revealed on Good Morning America that she wrote the inspiring new track shortly after the Las Vegas shooting that occurred in October. The Grammy winner's 12-year-old niece, Ava, appears on the song as well.

In dedication to the Sandy Hook victims and their families, the download proceeds from "The Dreaming Kind" will benefit the Sandy Hook Promise. Check below for more information.
