Jim Nabors, Best Known as Gomer Pyle on 'The Andy Griffith Show,' Has Died at 87

Jim Nabors has died at the age of 87, according to a report from TMZ. Nabors was best known for his role as Gomer Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show in the 1960s.

The actor even went on to star in a spin-off series: Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C, which ran from 1964 until 1969. 

Nabors was also a well-known musician, who frequently appeared on variety shows and television specials, as he sang romantic ballads. 

Jim will be remembered by auto racing fans for singing "Back Home Again in Indiana" prior to the start of the Indianapolis 500 almost every year from 1972 until 2014.

Nabors married his partner of more than 30 years, Stan Cadwallder, in 2013. They lived in Hawaii.
